Supersonic flight successfully conducted over Ankara

The Hurjet took off from Murted Airfield at 9:45 AM, breaking the sound barrier for the first time in Turkish aviation history. Accompanied by an F-16 fighter jet, Hurjet’s test flight proceeded smoothly as part of a planned and controlled operation.

The aircraft demonstrated its ability to fly at supersonic speeds, marking a key milestone in the development of Türkiye’s aerospace industry.

Public advised ahead of flight

Ahead of the flight, Ankara Governor’s Office shared an announcement via social media, informing the public of the upcoming event and urging citizens not to be alarmed by the loud sonic boom that would accompany the supersonic flight.

“This was a planned event, and there is no need for concern,” the office stated. The flight occurred between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM, as scheduled.

Türkiye’s aerospace ambitions reach new heights

The successful supersonic flight of Hurjet represents a significant step forward in Türkiye’s aerospace ambitions. Developed for advanced pilot training and potential light combat roles, Hurjet’s capabilities are designed to bolster Türkiye’s defense capabilities and expand its presence in global aerospace markets.
