Türkiye’s domestically produced electric car, Togg, achieved a milestone in December 2024 with its T10X model, selling 5,732 units in a single month.

This remarkable record contributed to its annual total of 24,361 units, cementing Togg’s position as the market leader, followed by Tesla and BMW with 9,227 and 8,041 units sold, respectively.

Speaking at a symposium organized by the Bursa Industrialists and Businesspeople Association (BUSIAD) at the Merinos Ataturk Congress and Culture Center, Togg CEO Gurcan Karakas expressed gratitude for the overwhelming public response.

“We are doing quite well; last month, we broke a sales record. The demand exceeded even our expectations, placing a tremendous responsibility on us. We are striving to live up to it,” Karakas said.

Togg to introduce a new model in April

Following the success of its T10X model, Türkiye’s leading electric vehicle brand announced plans to launch its second C-segment model, the T10F fastback, in April 2025.

The new model will offer three versions with a range of up to 600 kilometers (372.8 miles) and is expected to be priced similarly to the T10X, as both vehicles share the same platform.

The electric vehicle market in Türkiye is growing rapidly, with electric cars accounting for an increasing share of the 343 car models available from 50 brands.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the total number of electric cars on the road reached 165,898 by the end of November 2024, up from 19,583 at the end of 2023.

In 2024, the number of electric car brands increased from 26 to 32, while the number of models jumped from 48 to 84. Data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) shows that Türkiye’s total car market grew by 0.5% in the first 11 months of 2024, reaching 845,530 units. During the same period, electric vehicle sales surged by 43.52%, totaling 77,891 units and representing 9.21% of all car sales—up from 6.78% in 2023.

Charging infrastructure expands rapidly

Looking ahead, industry experts anticipate that the number of electric vehicles sold in 2025 could reach between 130,000 and 150,000 units, with their market share exceeding 15%. By the end of 2025, the total number of electric vehicles on Turkish roads is projected to surpass 300,000.

Türkiye’s electric vehicle charging network has expanded significantly. In 2022, there were 6,500 charging sockets across the country; by the end of 2023, this number had nearly doubled to over 12,000.

As of 2024, the network grew to 26,000 sockets, including 9,000 fast-charging (DC) points and 17,000 standard (AC) chargers. With a ratio of one socket for every six electric vehicles, Türkiye is ahead of the European average of one socket per 13 vehicles, responding to the clean technology trend in the Turkish automotive market.
