Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, highlighted the country’s strategic position at the heart of a $25 trillion trade zone, connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Uraloglu emphasized Türkiye’s access to a market of 1.5 billion people, with a combined GDP of $51.2 trillion, during a presentation at the AK Party headquarters.

11 strategic focus areas for transportation

Minister Uraloglu outlined the ministry’s 2024-2028 strategic plan, focusing on 11 key areas designed to enhance Türkiye’s transport and communication systems:

  • Digitalization
  • Eco-Friendly Transportation
  • Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure
  • Global Transport Corridors
  • Advanced Communication Technologies

Türkiye positioned as Eurasia’s logistics hub

The minister emphasized Türkiye’s role as a logistics center for Eurasia, citing extensive projects in air, road, and maritime transportation.

The discussion included the activities of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK-ICT), addressing the impact of social media and online gaming on children and adolescents. Concerns were raised about issues such as increased aggression, social isolation, and addiction stemming from uncontrolled use of digital platforms.

Long-term goals in transportation and sustainability

Uraloglu noted that the strategy includes expanding eco-friendly transport solutions and digital infrastructure. He underscored the importance of adapting to new economic challenges while fostering sustainable growth. “We aim to be at the forefront of directing these global changes rather than just reacting to them,” Uraloglu stated.
