Türkiye has suspended all trade with Israel over its operation in Gaza.
The Turkish trade ministry said the measures would remain until Israel allowed a sufficient flow of aid into Gaza.
Trade between the two countries was worth almost $7 bn in 2023.
For his part, Israel’s foreign minister accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of ‘acting like a dictator’.
Meanwhile, Turkish university students have staged rallies to protest against Israel’s action the Gaza Strip and to show support for pro-Palestinian rallies on campuses in the United States.
The United Nations has warned that human development in Gaza will be set back decades if the current war continues. In their report, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) estimates that if the Gaza conflict continues for nine months, 44 years of progress will be wiped out in the territory.
Furthermore, as the war heads toward its seventh month, the poverty rate will touch 58.4 percent, pushing nearly 1.70 million more people into poverty.
