Türkiye continues to take strategic steps to achieve its goal of becoming a natural gas hub in the region. The country is expanding its infrastructure to import half of its natural gas as liquefied natural gas (LNG) via LNG carriers, which will lead to new agreements diversifying its supply portfolio.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar is visiting the U.S. again, following his trip in May. During this visit, a new long-term LNG agreement will be signed with a global company, similar to previous agreements with three different global companies.

Minister Bayraktar will participate in significant meetings in the U.S., including the Gastech 2024 Conference and Exhibition in Houston from September 17-19. He will attend the opening ceremony and speak at a ministers’ panel, where he will discuss Türkiye’s energy policies and its goal of becoming a central energy hub. It is expected that he will hold bilateral meetings with ministers from energy-leading countries such as the U.S., Egypt, India, Nigeria, and Libya.

Gastech will also host a significant development, with a long-term LNG agreement between BOTAS and a global energy company being signed, similar to the agreement signed with Shell in Ankara earlier.
