Turkon Line, a leading Turkish container shipping company, is set to contribute to the expansion of trade between Türkiye and India, with its newly added shipping routes to the South Asian country.

Alkin Kalkavan, CEO of Turkon Line, announced the company’s move, stating, “We have added India to our container shipping routes.

Two vessels, built in Türkiye and equipped to operate on five different fuel types, will join our operations this year, increasing our capacity by over 50%.”

According to information provided by Turkon Line to Anadolu Agency, the company continues to expand its service network.

With the addition of the new Indian route, the company aims to offer a broader range of services, extending its connectivity from the United States and Europe to the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The Indian service, set to launch in February, marks a significant step in Turkon Line’s vision for eastward expansion. Initially, the route will operate with four vessels, with plans to increase to five by June, ensuring weekly service continuity.

Introducing the route to India

The newly established “Türkiye Red Sea India (TRI)” route will connect major ports in Türkiye, the Red Sea, and India, with stops at Ambarli, Evyap, Aliaga, Mersin, Aqaba, Jeddah, Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Alexandria.

Designed to offer the fastest service to India via the Suez Canal and the Red Sea, the TRI route will include railway connections from Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports to India’s inland trade hubs. These include key strategic locations, such as Dadri, Delhi, Garhi, Sonipat, Ludhiana, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad, facilitating seamless logistics solutions.

This new route will integrate Indian ports with markets in the United States, Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, adding a new dimension to Turkon Line’s global operations.
