On December 3, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, met with Kamil Yanikomeroglu, Chairman of Rönesans Holding’s board, to discuss potential collaborations. The talks focused on large infrastructure projects implemented through public-private partnerships.

Rönesans Holding is particularly interested in the Tashkent-Samarkand high-speed railway construction project, according to Yanikomeroglu.

This is not the first time Rönesans has explored opportunities in Uzbekistan. In May 2023, representatives from the company, alongside the Japanese Sojitz Group’s Istanbul branch, met with Deputy Transport Minister Jasurbek Choriev. The discussions centered on the possibility of constructing toll roads.

Uzbekistan is advancing plans to enhance its railway infrastructure to meet growing demands for passenger and freight transport. In November 2023, Uzbekistan Railways’ first deputy head announced the intent to build a dedicated line for high-speed rail traffic.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted these initiatives during the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank governors’ meeting in Samarkand in September. He outlined plans for high-speed railway lines connecting Tashkent to Samarkand, and further extending from Samarkand to Navoi and Bukhara.
