Turkish construction firms expand market reaching 137 countries in 2024
Türkiye’s contractors continue to be key players in the global construction industry. M. Erdal Eren, President of the Turkish Contractors Association (TMB), emphasized the sector’s achievements: “Despite the ongoing war, Russia remained our largest market in 2023. We are also actively preparing to take part in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.” Eren highlighted their efforts to expand activities in markets like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Algeria, Poland, Romania, and Sub-Saharan African countries. The number of countries where Turkish contractors are active has increased to 137 in 2024, with the addition of Portugal.
Turkish contractors overcoming global challenges with proactive strategies
The global construction market, valued at $499.7 billion in 2023, has been affected by inflation, regional conflicts, and supply chain disruptions. To manage these risks, contractors have taken proactive steps to diversify their operations and support key market investments.
“Turkish contractors, who celebrated the 100th anniversary of our Republic by completing over 12,000 projects in 136 countries in 2023, have shown exceptional resilience,” Eren stated. Six Turkish firms made it into the top 100 construction rankings, with one ranked among the top 50.

The company is also working on the A24 Blankenburgverbinding road connection project in Rotterdam, designed to enhance accessibility and support economic growth in the region. Project director Patrick van Os noted, “Our team has demonstrated exceptional technical skills and innovation. We are eager to see the project in use by the end of 2024.”
