Turkish home appliances giant Arcelik has announced the commencement of production at its new factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, following a $78 million investment. The factory will primarily manufacture refrigerators, as well as televisions, washing machines, air conditioners and other large household appliances.

In a statement to Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Arcelik revealed that the facility spans a total area of 135,000 square meters, with a closed area of 77,000 square meters. Initially, the factory will focus on producing refrigerators, with an annual production capacity of 750,000 units.

Capacity and employment expectations

The investment process had been previously reported in the company’s activity reports. Once operating at full capacity, the factory is expected to create up to 4,000 jobs.

“In line with the investment process stated in our past activity reports, our new factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has begun production. This facility will manufacture refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, air conditioners, and other large household appliances,” Arcelik said in the statement.

“The factory, built with a $78 million investment, spans a total area of 135,000 square meters, with 77,000 square meters of closed space. The current production capacity for refrigerators is 750,000 units per year. When operating at full capacity, the factory is expected to employ up to 4,000 people.”
