With group travel booming, whether it’s in the form of multi-generational holidays with the family or trips away with our girlfriends, there’s never been a better time to explore somewhere new with our favourite people.

After Airbnb recently revealed that 80 per cent of its bookings are for group getaways, we thought we’d have a think of the amazing cities that are best explored with the whole gang. While the likes of Paris and Lisbon are excellent locations, Istanbul grabbed our attention for its bustling bazaars and incredible attractions, not to mention the affordability for group travellers.

Browsing the Airbnbs available in Istanbul, we found that there were fabulous options, including Istanbul rentals with private pools and those found in central locations, such as near the Blue Mosque.

However, there was one Airbnb that caught our eye for its marvellous setting and unrivalled view…

Located on the cusp of the trendy Cihangir neighbourhood in European Istanbul, this expansive three bedroom apartment is an Airbnb guest favourite and provides a wonderful sanctuary for a group getaway. As an intoxicating city that sizzles with energy, a space to recharge after a day immersed in the sights and sounds of magical Istanbul is a must.

Great empires have risen and fallen within the walls of this city. The Romans gave life to the place known as Byzantium as the capital of the eastern Roman empire before it later became Constantinople, where it played host to the Ottoman Empire for almost 500 years. In 1923, the birth of the modern Republic of Türkiye brings us to the present, with the city we now know as Istanbul.

Of all its highlights, the view is the one with which you’ll fall in love. To the south, you can gaze past the peninsula of Kadıköy to the sparkling waters of the Marmara Sea. That group of islands on the horizon? Those are the Princes’ Islands (locally known as Adalar) and from the Airbnb you can easily hop on to a ferry to escape there for a day of car-free tranquillity, beach retreats and delicious seafood restaurants.

Follow the view under one of the city’s impressive suspension bridges to Beylerbeyi, where the waters of the Bosphorus meet spectacular Ottoman era palaces and luxury homes.

We’re not the only ones waxing lyrical about this Airbnb. Previous guests love it too, with one review saying it’s a “beautiful apartment with an amazing view and even better than the photos” and another reads: “Unbelievable view from a beautiful apartment in Istanbul!
