President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hinted at potential changes within his Cabinet and the leadership of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
Speaking to journalists during his return from official visits to Albania and Serbia, Erdogan noted that internal evaluations were ongoing, and adjustments could be made depending on the situation.
Food inspections under scrutiny
Responding to questions about recent food inspections by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Erdogan highlighted that Türkiye has 724,000 food businesses, all of which are subject to at least one inspection annually.
In 2024, the number of inspections is nearing one million. Erdogan also commented on the controversy surrounding a well-known restaurant chain, affirming that the inspections were thorough and followed proper legal procedures.
Ongoing changes in AK Party
When asked about possible changes within the AK Party, Erdogan confirmed that a restructuring process was underway.
He mentioned that the party’s program is continuously updated and that additional changes in administrative roles, including the party’s vice-chairpersons and the Cabinet, could take place in the near future.
