Victor Osimhen’s remarkable impact on Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray has become a point of admiration.
The Nigeria striker’s stellar performances since joining Galatasaray have not only turned heads in the Super Lig but also reignited aspirations for the league’s global standing.
With six goals and two assists in his first six matches, the Super Eagles star has set a new standard, becoming the first player to achieve such a feat, at least since Opta began tracking data in the league.
As speculation grows regarding Osimhen’s future, Galatasaray officials and stakeholders have been vocal about his significance to the club and Turkish football at large.
VOsimhen: Redefining Turkish football
Abdullah Kavukçu, Galatasaray manager, emphasised the transformative effect of Osimhen’s presence, calling for a united front within the Galatasaray community to nurture and attract more players of his calibre.
Kavukçu, in a video shared by Aspor, highlighted the club’s ambitious approach to transfers, which transcends traditional transfer windows.
“If the whole Galatasaray family comes together and new projects are developed, more Osimhens will come,” he said.
Fatih Erdoğan, Chairman of Pacific Holding, shared a similar idea, stating that the transfer has elevated Turkish football to a whole new level.
Erdoğan also added that he hopes the Nigeria international will remain a part of Galatasaray’s journey.
“Victor Osimhen was a move that took Turkish football to a higher level. We all hope he will continue at Galatasaray,” he said.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Nigerian forward has been away on international duty, playing a key role in helping the Super Eagles secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON.
