The Mulberry Grove High School gym was buzzing with activity last week as the 22nd Annual FNB Community Bank Turkey Tournament took place.
Saturday was the final day of competition.
The championship went to Father McGivney with a 49-43 win over Maryville Christian, South Central beat Mulberry Grove, 54-38, for third place, St. Elmo Brownstown stopped Lebanon 77-50 for fifth place, and Mount Olive downed Ramsey, 54-45, for seventh place.
The Mulberry Grove cheerleading squad received second place in the cheer competition. St. Elmo/Brownstown was first.
Mulberry Grove players Landon Sugg and Jackson Icenogle were named to the all-tournament team.
In honor of the late Jeff Koontz, the first tournament Sportsmanship Award was presented. It was given to Hagan Henrichsmeyer of Mulberry Grove by Jeff’s wife, Tina (pictured above).
Jeff Koontz was a Mulberry Grove High School graduate, where he also played sports for the Aces. He served on the Mulberry Grove Unit 1 School Board over 10 years.
