Mrunal Thakur’s Tamil debut with Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa star Silambarasan TR? Here’s what we know
Mrunal Thakur is making headlines because of her alleged debut in Tamil films with Silambarasan TR. Better known as Simbu, who is a popular and versatile actor in the Tamil film scene, is currently busy with STR48. The movie’s first look poster, revealing Simbu in a dual role, was unveiled on his 41st birthday. It seems like the story revolves around two identical brothers at odds with each other. Keerthy Suresh is also said to be part of the film.
Recent reports from TOI suggest that Mrunal Thakur has landed a significant role in STR48. The filmmakers have been discussing her involvement, and she’s keen to be part of the project. Earlier, there were talks about a Bollywood actress joining Keerthy Suresh; however, it’s unclear if Mrunal Thakur will replace her or join her.
STR48 marks the first collaboration between Simbu and director Desingh Periyasamy, known for the 2017 film Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal. This period-fantasy film, backed by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, portrays Simbu as two courageous knights.
There’s buzz that Anirudh Ravichander might compose the film’s music, but nothing’s confirmed yet. Meanwhile, Simbu is also expected to team up with Gautham Vasudev Menon for a sequel to their 2022 movie Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu, after they wrap up their current projects.
Mrunal Thakur, on the other hand, will be seen alongside Vijay Deverakonda in Parasuram Petla’s Family Star, scheduled for release on April 5 this year.
