The fourth electricity conversion station in the village of Taqel Baql is the first and only one committed by the Turkish occupation state in the region of North and East Syria on the night of November 19/20, 2022.
The massacres of the Turkish occupation army against the people of North and East Syria began on April 25, 2017 during the bombing of the Qarjokh area in al-Jazira canton by the Turkish occupation aircraft, and the massacres continued until they reached Afrin in 2018, Serekaniye and Gire Spi in 2019, Taqel Baql 2022, and Hamzbek 2023.
The last massacre of the Turkish occupation occurred on the night of October 23, 2024 at the oil station in the village of Suwaydiya, where 7 station workers were martyred over targeting oil, gas and electricity stations.
On the night of November 19-20, 2022, the Turkish occupation launched a series of attacks with warplanes and drones on vital sites and infrastructure in North and East Syria, the most violent of which was on the fourth electricity conversion station in the village of Taqel Baql in the countryside of the city of Derik, al-Jazira canton.
As oil and gas sites and electricity stations in the countryside of Derik, Tirbespiye, Amuda, Qamishli and the city of Kobani were subjected to direct bombing by Turkish occupation warplanes and drones. Immediately after the Turkish occupation aircraft launched their brutal attack on the station in Taqel Baql, the people of Derik and its villages headed towards the station, including ANHA agency’s correspondent Issam Abdullah to document the truth of what happened.
The planes returned, after the people gathered to launch a second raid on the station, and at that moment a massacre was committed, as a result of which 11 citizens were martyred, including ANHA agency’s correspondent Issam Abdullah.
The martyrs are: (Issam Abdullah, Hussein Ali, Jijik Haruni, Hilal Qasim, Hadiya Abdullah, Obaid Khaled, Mahmoud Ali, Fayez Abdullah, Nouri Jaftji, Hussein Khalto, Mazen Oussi).
Although thousands of residents and concerned parties denounced the attack that targeted civilians, the Turkish occupation state did not hesitate in its hostility against the people of North and East Syria.
Zaher Al-Din Khalil, one of the witnesses to the massacre and the husband of the martyr Hadiya Abdullah, says: “After we heard that the Turkish occupation state bombed the Taqel Baql power station, my wife and I headed to the bombing site to help and transport the injured, as it is our duty.”
Zaher Al-Din added: “When we were there, the residents gathered to deliver a statement, condemning the attack, then the Turkish occupation warplanes returned and bombed the place again, resulting in the martyrdom of 11 citizens.”
We chose the path of defending our gains
Hassan Obeid, the administrator at the Taqel Baql power station, pointed out the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the infrastructure and service sites are continuing.
Obeid confirmed that they are continuing their work within the stations and service sites to provide services to citizens, and added: “We have chosen the path of resistance to protect our gains.”
