Lions’ David Montgomery on what makes Dan Campbell a great leader
Lions RB David Montgomery talks about what makes Dan Campbell such a great head coach and leader.
Sports Seriously
It’s a tradition like no other. Every Thanksgiving Day, the winners of that year’s NFL matchups feast on a turkey for their hard-earned victory. However, this year’s feast included a viral moment thanks to Detroit Lions running back and Cincinnati native David Montgomery.
While Lions quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, running back Jahmyr Gibbs and former Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman DJ Reader dug into the victorious turkey drumsticks following their 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears (Montgomery’s former team) at Ford Field Thursday, viewers couldn’t help but notice Montgomery, who was just nibbling on a carrot.
“Jared Goff and the rest of team eats their first turkey W meanwhile David Montgomery eats carrot,” a person posted on X.
Montgomery gave Goff a quizzical look as the QB ripped off a turkey leg before the Mount Healthy graduate stepped out of the frame. He then later flashed his carrot to the camera with a grin.
The moment quickly spread on social media.
“Montgomery is giving off little sibling vibes,” one X user wrote.
“David Montgomery was just happy to have his carrot,” another person said on Reddit.
Is David Montgomery a vegan?
In 2020, when Montgomery was still with the Bears, the team reported he had recently become a vegan.
Montgomery had said he decided to step up his diet game by eliminating all meat and animal products.
“That’s probably the biggest thing,” he said, “feeling more energized. Just eating healthy and taking care of my body more.”
It’s, however, unclear if Montgomery still follows a vegan diet.
