The Co-chair of the KCK Executive Council issued a statement regarding the Turkish occupation state’s attacks on S. Kurdistan. The statement read:
“As a result of the brutal attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state on S. Kurdistan, many civilians, patriots, and common people have been martyred, and many others injured. We respectfully and gratefully remember all those who were martyred in these attacks, wish a speedy recovery to the wounded, and call upon our people, patriots, and democratic institutions to honor the martyrs and support the injured. This is one of the core duties of patriotism and must be fulfilled completely.
We strongly condemn these barbaric attacks by the Turkish state once again, as well as the Iraqi government, which paved the way for these massacres through its relations and agreements with Turkey. It is clear that the increasing Turkish attacks are the result of the dirty deals that were made with Iraq. It has been proven that this leads to more occupation and massacres. From now on, the Iraqi government will be held as responsible as the Turkish state for all the attacks, occupations, and massacres in S. Kurdistan and Iraq. Once again, the forces behind the Iraqi government, those complicit in this historical mistake, or those who remain silent, will also bear this responsibility.
We warn the concerned parties once again, especially the Iraqi government, and reiterate our call to reverse these dangerous and wrong agreements with Turkey. This dirty relationship of interests, aimed at occupying and annihilating Kurdistan, and placing Iraq under Turkish dominance, endangers the free and democratic future of the peoples of the Middle East.
The objective of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the fascist Neo-Ottoman occupation is to exterminate peoples, turn them against one another, implement the Misaki Milli (National Pact), and impose their dominance on the region. This policy is primarily a threat to Iraq and its unity, so Iraq should recognize this reality more than anyone.
Since Iraq is quickly drifting in a dangerous and wrong direction due to these relations entered by its government, those forces that claim to oppose this path must take a stronger stance. Open, strong, and direct positions are needed. Therefore, Iraqi national and democratic forces that support Iraq’s unity and sovereignty, as well as Iraqi intellectuals, must take a clear and strong stance to push the government away from this course.
The main culprits of the occupation and massacres in S. Kurdistan are the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Barzani. They have become complicit in the Kurdish genocide for their gains and interests, turning into the greatest threat to Kurdistan. The Barzanis have also forced the Iraqi state into such relations to cover up their betrayal and complicity and to legitimize them. If we are to talk about patriotism and act in its name, we must first recognize this threat and take strong positions against it. Kurdish politicians, national forces, and intellectuals must act responsibly and take the initiative in this matter. Our people must not remain silent in the face of these attacks. They must strongly oppose the massacres and betrayal, strengthen their unity by firmly embracing the truth of the martyrs, and intensify the struggle for freedom.”
