Hundreds of people have left Lebanon for Turkey via ferry, the Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported on Thursday.

With the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continuing to escalate, more than 700 people have reached safety in Turkey, including Lebanese, Turkish and German nationals.

The ferries to the Turkish port of Mersin are not official evacuation measures. However, Turkey has already completed preparations, TRT said, and evacuations could be imminent.

The broadcaster said 14,000 Turkish citizens live in Lebanon.
