The Yellville-Summit High School football team came up just short in its Turkey Trot game. The Panthers fell to Mountain View 20-14. Yellville-Summit drops to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in the 3A-2, and they’ll travel to Salem next week. The Yellowjackets improve to 3-3 and 1-2, and they’ll host Episcopal Collegiate.
Salem also ended up on the losing end of a one-possession game. The Greyhounds went to Atkins and suffered a 40-36 defeat. Salem falls to 3-3 on the year and 2-1 in the 3A-2.
Izard County had another tough road trip on Friday. The Cougars lost to McCrory by a final of 52-14. Izard County is now 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the 2A-2, and they’ll return home next week for a matchup with Des Arc.
Melbourne ended up losing a close game on the road. The Bearkatz were edged out by Mayflower 13-10. Melbourne falls to 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host Atkins next week.
Harrison picked up its first win of the season and invoked the mercy rule in the process. The Goblins shut out Clarksville 35-0. Harrison improves to 1-5 on the year and 1-2 in the 5A-West, and they’ll travel to Morrilton next Friday.
On the eight-man level, Marshall had a successful homecoming night. The Bobcats were able to get past Rose Bud 32-28. Marshall is now 3-4, and they’ll finish their regular season next week by hosting Corning.
