Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek participated in three high-level investor meetings in New York, hosted by Citibank, as part of his visit to the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
These meetings were attended by senior portfolio managers, economists, and representatives from some of the leading U.S. financial institutions.
Focus on Türkiye’s economic program
During the closed-door meetings, Simsek shared updates on the progress of Türkiye’s economic program and outlined the government’s priorities for the future. He emphasized Türkiye’s goal to increase direct foreign investments, highlighting the country’s strategic advantages.
The meetings, organized by Citibank, included senior executives from some of the most prominent portfolio management firms in the U.S., underscoring the importance of Türkiye’s economic relationship with international investors.
Collaboration with business leaders
In addition to the Citibank meetings, Minister Simsek attended a roundtable discussion organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Türkiye-U.S. Business Council (TAIK). This event brought together top business leaders and investors from both the U.S. and Türkiye, as well as executives from international organizations.
Simsek’s detailed presentation focused on the strategic opportunities available in Türkiye and the government’s ongoing efforts to foster a more favorable investment environment. “Türkiye’s goal is to further increase direct investments, leveraging its strategic advantages,” Simsek noted during the meeting.
Continuous efforts to attract investors
Minister Simsek’s meetings in New York are part of a broader effort by the Turkish government to strengthen economic ties and attract more international investment.
His schedule includes additional investor meetings in the U.S. as part of this mission.
