A counterterrorism operation targeting the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in Kayseri resulted in the detention of eight suspects, including a convicted fugitive and a former police chief alleged to have served as the ringleader, Fetullah Gulen’s personal bodyguard.
Ringleader’s bodyguard among key figures detained
The Kayseri Provincial Police Department, in coordination with the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime and Intelligence branches, carried out simultaneous raids on addresses identified as “gaybubet (absence) houses,” secretive hideouts used by FETO members to evade capture.
Among the key detainees is A.A., a dismissed police chief accused of acting as the personal bodyguard for the organization’s leader. Another detained former police chief, O.A., is also suspected of involvement with the group.
Convicted fugitive among those arrested
Others arrested include dismissed prison guard O.B., and suspects identified as S.Y., E.T., M.T., I.D., and E.C. Authorities also detained H.K., a fugitive previously sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
The suspects are undergoing processing at police headquarters as the investigation progresses.
