Thanksgiving may look quite different at many households this year because of a big change announced today.

Butterball, the Garner-based leading turkey brand, says it is introducing a frozen turkey that can be cooked without thawing or prep work.

The new Cook from Frozen Premium Whole Turkey is an innovation that will save some cooks hours of preparation, the company says. No basting, brining, or seasoning is required because the turkeys’ formulated brine keeps the turkey moist as it roasts, it adds.

Butterball is introducing a turkey that can go straight from the freezer to the oven without thawing.

There are no neck or giblets to remove.

Butterball says the new product will be available at many retailers including Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Walmart and Publix stores.

The company employs more than 6,500 people with production facilities in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and North Carolina. It is jointly owned by Kansas City-based Seaboard Corp. and the family-owned Maxwell Farms business based in Goldsboro in eastern North Carolina.
