The Japanese embassy in Turkey says six Japanese tourists were hospitalized with injuries on Thursday after their bus was involved in an accident in western Turkey.

The embassy says a bus carrying a group of 20 Japanese tourists overturned in the province of Afyonkarahisar on Thursday morning, local time, causing injuries.

The embassy says one of the tourists is in serious condition but remains conscious.

Turkish media footage shows a bus lying on the side of a road with ambulances and police cars that responded to the accident.

The video also shows an ambulance arriving at a hospital and Japanese people exiting the vehicle. The video also shows one with their right hand immobilized and another being carried on a stretcher.

One of the hospitals which received some of the injured tourists told NHK that one passenger has serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Another hospital told NHK that it received three Japanese tourists but they apparently have no injuries.
