The Dutch marine contractor Boskalis has recently hit a major milestone by transporting the FPSO Opportunity from Singapore to Turkey.
“Transporting cargoes that weigh tens of thousands of tons by sea is always a remarkable feat, even after countless long-distance transports,” the company said in its brief statement.
The arrival in Turkey was made memorable with BOKA Vanguard’s passage under the Çanakkale 1915 bridge, where Boskalis played a role in installing several sections of the world’s longest suspension bridge.
The unit delivered to Turkey after a 51-day journey, will be part of the country’s Sakarya field development. Developed in two phases the field is expected to hit production volumes of 30 million cubic meters per day in 2028, covering 30 per cent of Turkey’s demand.
