Arda Güler played 90 minutes in Turkey’s shocking 3-1 loss to Montenegro in their final UEFA Nations League group match.

The defeat meant they finished second in their group, with Wales beating Iceland at the same time.

Güler played a good game and was Turkey’s most creative player as he started as a central attacking midfielder in a rotated team.

Güler took many shots on goal but only one managed to test the keeper, with the other four going off target.

The Real Madrid man was as hard-working as ever, winning six duels out of seven over the course of the game. He finished the game with 76 touches; second-most on the pitch — just behind Orkun Kökçü, who had 78.

Güler had three key passes, as he kept feeding his teammates with good looks, also completing 49 out of his 54 passes (91%). He also completed two crosses from his five attempts, and seven of his eight long ball attempts.

Güler will now return to Madrid without facing any injury problems, and judging by the state of the pitch he played on against Montenegro, that is a relief.
