Türkiye ready for 5.5G: Vodafone Türkiye CEO – Türkiye Today

Vodafone Türkiye CEO Engin Aksoy stated that the company is ready for the 5G tender, sharing their plans to transition to 5.5G by 2026 with new “5G Advanced” technology.

Following the announcement by Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, regarding an imminent call for bids on 5G infrastructure, Vodafone Türkiye CEO Engin Aksoy stated that the company is ready for the 5G tender.

Highlighting Vodafone’s new “5G Advanced” technology, Aksoy shared plans to transition to 5.5G by 2026, saying “In other words, we are ready for not just 5G but 5.5G,” economy-based ekonomim.com reported.

During a meeting with Vodafone Deputy CEO Hasan Suel the previous week, Aksoy shared insights into their 2024 evaluations and 2025 objectives. Responding to questions about an official invitation for the tender, he stated, “We haven’t received an official invitation yet, but we are ready for the tender.”

5G in over 130 countries worldwide

Aksoy highlighted the significance of 5G in boosting internet capacity across Türkiye, emphasizing the need to utilize unused government-held frequencies to alleviate network congestion.

He also noted that over 130 countries worldwide have already adopted 5G, adding, “Vodafone has already launched 5G in numerous countries, and we have substantial experience in this field.”

Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, announced on Dec. 15 that the frequencies to be auctioned for 5G in 2025 have been determined, with a transition to 5.5G planned by 2026.
