The brother of a British tourist found dead in a lift shaft in a Turkish hotel has claimed he was murdered.
The body of Tyler Kerry, 20, was discovered on Friday morning. He had been on holiday with relatives in the city of Antalya.
Mason Read, 18, told the BBC: “My brother’s been killed, 100%. I want to see justice for my boy.
“It’s killing me sitting here thinking of everything that could’ve happened to him.”
Here is what we know – and don’t know – about Kerry’s death.
What we know
Kerry, a labourer from Basildon, Essex, was on holiday in Antalya with his girlfriend Molly, grandparents Colette and Ray, and other relatives. They arrived on 27 November.
The BBC reported a group of them were drinking in their hotel, the Trendy Lara, in the early hours of Friday (29 November) when Kerry vanished.
He was reportedly last seen asleep on a sofa in the hotel lobby. His grandmother, Collette Kerry, said two members of hotel staff pointed to the lift shaft when asked if they had seen him.
After a search, his body was discovered at 7am local time at the bottom of the shaft. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sibling Mason Read said he was among the group who found him at the bottom of the shaft in the hotel basement. He told the BBC that Kerry’s vape had been found covered in blood on the first floor.
Kerry’s grandmother also said that when her grandson was discovered, he was wearing only boxer shorts and socks.
What we don’t know
First, the chain of events – from Kerry being asleep in the hotel lobby to being found in the lift shaft with most of his clothes removed – has not been established.
Second, the specific injuries that Kerry sustained have not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Kerry’s grandmother said police are treating Kerry’s death as suspicious, but this has not been confirmed. Yahoo News UK has approached Antalya Police Department for comment.
