Turkish Airlines achieves a milestone with its record-breaking longest flight, connecting Istanbul and Sydney, marking a key step in its global expansion strategy.
Turkish Airlines has taken a significant step by launching its longest flight route to Sydney, marking a historic achievement in the airline’s global expansion. The flight touched down in Sydney for the first time on November 29th, expanding Turkish Airlines’ reach to 351 destinations across six continents. This new connection makes Sydney the airline’s second destination in Australia, following Melbourne earlier this year.
The Istanbul-Sydney route will be serviced by Turkish Airlines’ state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft, designed for long-haul comfort. The aircraft features 32 fully flatbed seats in business class and 297 reclining seats in economy, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers. Operating four times a week via Kuala Lumpur, this 9,300-mile flight will take approximately 19 hours to complete, further solidifying Turkish Airlines’ role as a leader in long-haul travel.
This new route will strengthen the ties between Türkiye and Australia, enhancing opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange. Additionally, it offers Australian travelers access to Turkish Airlines’ expansive network, enabling them to explore destinations across the globe with the airline’s renowned service and hospitality.
With the addition of Sydney, Turkish Airlines continues to build on its momentum after launching its Melbourne service in March 2024. This new route sets the stage for future developments, with plans for direct, non-stop flights between Sydney and Istanbul, transforming travel between these two iconic destinations.
