That’s what we tell everyone. But let’s be honest, Thanksgiving is about food and football.
You might not see as many games as usual on Thanksgiving, at least in the morning since many high schools have nixed the annual tradition. But that doesn’t mean you can’t fill your day with turkey and touchdowns.
What NFL teams play today?
There are three NFL games set for Thanksgiving:
- Bears at Lions: 12:30 p.m., CBS
- Giants at Cowboys: 4:30 p.m., FOX
- Dolphins at Packers: 8:20 p.m., NBC
When was the first Thanksgiving NFL game?
In 1920, there was a rumor that two football teams, the Chicago Tigers and the Decatur Staleys, had a big game on Thanksgiving. The rumor said that the losing team would have to stop playing football. While this story probably isn’t true, the Tigers did stop playing after that year. The Staleys moved to Chicago and became the Chicago Bears.
