PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Valley sports medicine doctor expects to see new patients with families and friends partaking in ‘Turkey Bowls’ before Thanksgiving dinner.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that the annual ‘Turkey Bowl’ tradition will result in 1,400 emergency room visits.
Over the years, HonorHealth Dr. Erik Dean has seen people with serious knee and leg injuries stemming from a friendly football game. The most common injuries include muscle strains, broken fingers, shoulder, back, wrist, ankle and knee injuries.
Dr. Dean recommends an active warmup before playing this Thanksgiving and advises people to play within their ability.
