The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, and the Chairperson of the Executive Council of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Marzoug, together with H.E. the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hakan Fidan, chaired the Third Africa-Turkey Ministerial Review Conference, held in Djibouti on November 3, 2024, which aims to review the joint implementation of the last period of the Joint Action Plan 2020-2026 endorsed during the Third Africa-Turkey Summit held in Istanbul 2021.

During his opening speech, the Minister stressed that the outcome of the past two decades of partnership “was generally satisfactory, and that it would not have been achieved without the sincere will to build a strong bridge of communication and exchange that guarantees the interests of all parties and responds to their aspirations.

There is no doubt that the interim evaluation meetings that the two parties have been organizing have played a commendable role in correcting imbalances and rationalizing joint action.”

The Minister pointed out that this meeting comes to deliberate on a number of issues related to the joint action plan of the African-Turkish partnership 2022-2026, in the strategic areas identified by the Istanbul Declaration, to be a roadmap that enhances cooperation between the African Union and the Republic of Turkey, in accordance with the priorities of Agenda 2063 and its ten-year implementation plans on the one hand, and to explore future prospects for cooperation in various fields, such as peace and security, governance, investment, education, youth, health and infrastructure, on the other hand.
