Jose Mourinho was in no mood to speak to the press after seeing his Fenerbahce side lose 3-1 to arch rivals Galatasaray.

Dries Mertens and Gabriel Sara, as well as a Dominik Livakovic own goal, ensured Mourinho would go home unhappy in his first derby.

The Portuguese was clearly fuming after the match and left the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium without attending his press conference.

That did not save him from being mocked by Galatasaray, however, as they poked fun at him on social media.

They posted on X, formerly Twitter, and made fun of his famous ‘Special One’ nickname.

Galatasaray re-named him ‘The Crying One’, before sharing a picture of their own manager Okan Buruk calling him ‘The winner one’.

Mourinho did stop to speak to a journalist on his way out of the stadium, where he was shown this mocked up post from Galatasaray.

An understandably spiky Mourinho replied: “Are you serious or joking?”

He then walked off from the interview.

Mourinho was hired by Fenerbahce this summer, but it has been mixed fortunes for the ex-Chelsea, Man United, Real Madrid and Tottenham boss.

That defeat to Galatasaray was their first in the Turkish Super Lig this season and are now five points off their rivals.

They also failed to qualify for the Champions League being knocked out in the qualifying round by Lille.

This means they have now dropped down to the Europa League, but Mourinho was pragmatic about what it means for the club.

“I am experienced and realistic enough to say that in Champions league we would not have a chance to reach the last stages of the competition,” Mourinho said after the game. “In the Europa League we will have chances because we will play teams of our level.

“It would be great to play in Champions League but we would never have a chance to go far in the competition. The Europa League is more adapted to our level.

“We do lose financially because the Champions League is an important boost for the club and we lose the chance to play against the biggest team in the world.

“But we would never win the Champions League, we would never reach the Champions League final. We could beat one or two big teams … We can do a great Europa League but only if, I can only say if.”
