Bosphorus Cup Sailing Races Begin in the Golden Horn

The first international water sports facility brought to Istanbul by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the Haliç Water Sports Center, will host sailing races this weekend. 10 athletes from 100 clubs will compete in the event, which will be held for the second time within the scope of the Bosphorus Cup in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Turkish Sailing Federation.

The Golden Horn Sailing Races will be held on September 21-22 at the Golden Horn Water Sports Center, which the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) brought to Istanbul. 10 athletes from 100 clubs will compete in the event, which will be held for the second time within the scope of the Bosphorus Cup in cooperation with the IMM and the Turkish Sailing Federation. While the athletes compete for the championship at sea, their families will share their excitement from the stands.

In the organization where athletes between the ages of 6 and 17 will sail, races will be held in the general and junior general categories in the Optimist and Ilca 4 classes. Track training will be held on September 13-17 for the RS Quest class races, which will be held for the first time and where athletes between the ages of 19 and 20 can participate.

At the end of the races, trophies and various gifts will be given to the clubs and athletes.

CENTER OF WATER SPORTS

After its construction was completed and opened last year, Haliç Water Sports Center provides training in rowing, canoeing and sailing to children and young people in Beyoğlu, Eyüp and Fatih regions. The facility, which hosts many clubs in water sports, hosts national and local races at various times as well as international water sports festivals.
