A world of talent in Turkey: 107 of over 150 transfers are foreign players

During the summer transfer period in Turkey, that started on June 24 and ended this Friday, September 13, Trendyol Super League teams added 107 foreign players to their squads.

The news prepared by Anadolu Agency (AA) discussed the transfers made by the Super League teams in the summer transfer period for the 2024-25 season.

The teams competing in the league added 158 players to their squads. 51 of the newly transferred players were local and 107 were foreign players.

Gaziantep FK Transferred the Most Foreign Players

Gaziantep FK signed the most foreign player transfers among the Super League teams. The red-blacks, which made the most transfers with 17 transfers, had 12 foreign players.

Trabzonspor and Göztepe in Second Place

Trabzonspor and Göztepe received the most foreign players after Gaziantep FK. While both teams added 13 players to their squads, nine were foreign players.

Transfer Ban

While Adana Demirspor, Bellona Kayserispor and Samsunspor, who have a transfer ban, cannot transfer new players to their squads, Corendon Alanyaspor, RAMS Başakşehir and Fenerbahçe transferred the least foreign players with four players each.

Portuguese and Brazilian Footballers Dominate

16 clubs that made transfers in the Super League added 107 foreign players from 47 different countries to their squads, while the Portuguese and Brazilians had the largest share among these players with nine players each.

These players were followed by seven Nigerians, six French, Senegalese and Serbians, four Bosnian, Croatian and English, and three Polish and Greek players.

Two players from Albania, Belgium, Czech Republic, Democratic Congo, Morocco, Ghana, Gambia, Italy, Cameroon and Romania signed contracts with Super League clubs.

In addition to these countries, one player from Germany, Angola, Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Algeria, Curaçao, Denmark, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Japan, Montenegro, Congo, Costa Rica, Hungary, Mali, Martinique, Norway, Central Africa, Paraguay, Tanzania, Ukraine and Cape Verde Islands has also reached an agreement with clubs in the Super League.

Two Teams Transferred Only Foreign Players

While clubs signed contracts with 107 foreign players in the Super League, Galatasaray and Kasımpaşa preferred foreign players in all transfers.

While both clubs added six foreign players to their squads, Kasımpaşa made all these transfers from clubs abroad. Galatasaray added five players from abroad and Michy Batshuayi from within the country.

The Next Transfer Window

The next transfer period for Turkey, the winter transfer window, will open on January 13, 2025, and continue until February 11, 2025.
