Group F of Euro 2024 finally gets underway on Tuesday, and Georgia makes their major international tournament debut against Turkey.
Turkey come into this game in rather indifferent form, having failed to win any of their last five international outings, but are still ranked as favourites with online bookmakers, meaning there is plenty of value to be had in this game.

Turkey v Georgia Match Preview
Rather Cold Turkey
Another international tournament begins, another international tournament where Turkey are considered to be a dark horse. Whether this consideration is nothing more than ongoing joke or actually steeped in fact, we will have a better idea in just a few hours.
Because with five of the six groups completing their first round of skirmishes in Germany, it is now time for Group F to join the party and with the draw being rather favourable to Vincenzo Montella and his players, this could be the year where Turkey finally put their status to good use.
At the same time, one could argue as to the criteria regarding a dark horse and if everybody is largely aware of the team’s talents, can this current crop of Turkish internationals truly fly under the radar?
The answer is perhaps not and for a true dark horse in this summer’s competition, you may have to look at Turkey’s upcoming opponents instead – a nation that makes its first-ever appearance at a major tournament finals.
That nation is Georgia and because they are one of European football’s last true unknown qualities it will be fascinating to see what the kings of the Caucasus region can serve up in the next few weeks.
Whereas Turkey sit in the middle of the pack when it comes to outright odds, it is Georgia who are currently joint outsiders at the time of writing and although asking them to go all the way is a rather tall order, asking them to make the Round of 16 is not outside the realm of possibility.
Especially when looking at the landscape of the other groups and if Georgia can rack up enough points to finish third in Group F, then earning at least one more outing in Germany would start to become a realistic target.
While manager Willy Sagnol will hope that star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finds the net in Georgia’s tournament debut. The Napoli forward may have only played 30 times for his country but is already joint third in the nation’s list of all-time scorers.
Not only would a goal put him one behind former Newcastle forward Temuri Ketsbaia in second, but it would also serve to place Kvaratskhelia back in the shop window and after an indifferent showing in Naples this season, this could be the perfect opportunity to increase his price tag.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips. With Turkey having failed to win any of their last five outings – including their two pre-tournament warm-up games, it is time for Georgia to show what they are all about. A show that comes in them picking up a relatively surprising win at odds of 4/1.
In addition to this, I am going to back Georgia to score first and although backing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at odds of 7/1 is tempting, I am going to back strike partner Georges Mikautadze to do so instead. You can back the Metz forward to break the deadlock at odds of 9/1.
