Real Madrid’s Arda Güler was once again Turkey’s best offensive player in a 0-0 draw with Wales in the UEFA Nations League. Turkey had limited opportunities all game because Wales dominated the ball for the majority of it, but Güler was still by far their most dangerous and decisive player.
He was substituted in the 89th minute after experiencing some pain in his leg. Whether it is a significant injury or a knock is not known.
In a game fully dominated by Wales, Güler had 39 touches, one completed dribble, one shot, and two key passes. Defensively, he had to do a lot of tracking back, and cover even more ground after the sending off of Yilmaz in the second half. He finished the game with two tackles and some decent defensive coverage.
No team could find the back of the net in a game where Turkey were always second best, but Güler was definitely their bright spot, as he capped yet another good national team display.
It remains to be seen whether Güler will feature against Iceland on Monday.
