Türkiye will engage in discussions with Instagram officials on Monday following the government’s decision to block the social media platform last week.

The move comes after a top Turkish official accused Instagram of censoring condolence posts related to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the upcoming talks on X, stating that Turkey had previously raised concerns about Instagram’s compliance with Turkish laws.

Communications official Fahrettin Altun criticized the platform for allegedly blocking posts mourning Haniyeh, calling it “censorship, pure and simple.”

With approximately 57 million users, Türkiye is the fifth largest Instagram market globally. (ILKHA)
